The Vision
Marcelus Brice
Founder & Chief Executive Officer
Building the future of behavioral healthcare.
Where It Began
I grew up on the east side of Detroit in a working-class neighborhood where opportunity was never guaranteed, but character was expected.
My family taught me that integrity matters, your word matters, and loyalty matters. They taught me to be independent, to honor commitments, and to build a life based on responsibility rather than circumstance.
Those lessons continue to shape the way I lead today.
Growing up with limited resources, working in government, becoming a father, and my faith all helped shape my belief that meaningful success is measured not only by what we build, but by the lives we improve along the way.
Long before TheraPlug existed, I knew I wanted to build something that would outlive me. I simply didn’t know what it would be.
The Experience That Changed Everything
My connection to behavioral healthcare wasn’t professional. It was personal.
Years ago, I was in a relationship with a woman who had been diagnosed with Bipolar I disorder. It was the first time I experienced firsthand how mental illness could affect every part of someone’s life—their relationships, their career, their confidence, and their future.
Finding help wasn’t easy. Many therapists had waiting lists stretching months into the future. Others accepted only private-pay patients, making care inaccessible for many people who needed it most.
Although our relationship ultimately came to an end, the experience stayed with me. I couldn’t stop thinking about how many families, providers, and communities were navigating the same challenges. That experience planted the first seed for what would eventually become TheraPlug.
THE MOMENT EVERYTHING CHANGED
For years I knew I wanted to build something meaningful.
Then one morning, while reflecting on the direction of my life, everything became clear.
The vision came all at once. I could see the platform, how providers and patients would connect, and the company we could build. For me, that moment was a gift from God. From that day forward, TheraPlug became more than a business idea. It became a calling.
Why We Built TheraPlug
Technology has transformed nearly every major industry. Behavioral healthcare deserves the same level of innovation.
TheraPlug exists to make behavioral healthcare more connected, more accessible, and more human. We are building technology that helps providers spend more time caring for people and less time navigating fragmented systems.
Our goal is not simply to build software. Our goal is to build infrastructure that improves lives.
Building the Right Team
I have never believed great companies are built by one individual. The strongest organizations are built by leaders whose perspectives complement one another.
That’s why TheraPlug was intentionally founded around three disciplines: Vision. Clinical Excellence. Governance.
Together we challenge one another, strengthen one another, and make better decisions than any one of us could alone.
Leadership Philosophy
Everything we build at TheraPlug is guided by four principles.
Patient First
Technology should strengthen the relationship between providers and the people they serve.
Build Trust
Trust is earned through transparency, accountability, and responsible leadership.
Think Long Term
We are building infrastructure designed to improve behavioral healthcare for decades—not simply the next product release.
Move With Purpose
Every decision should create meaningful value for providers, patients, and communities.
Looking Ahead
The future of behavioral healthcare will be more connected, more intelligent, and more accessible.
I believe technology has the power to remove barriers that have existed for generations.
Our responsibility is to build that future with discipline, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to the people who place their trust in us.
Success will never be measured simply by the number of users on our platform. It will be measured by the number of lives improved because better care became easier to find.
